Joan Heath Remembered

üuelph Arts Council was saddened to learn of the recent death of Joan Heath, a founding member of the Council’s Board of Directors. Indeed, it was Joan who drew up the organization’s application for letters patent back in 1975. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Joan served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, taking early leave to enroll in Osgoode Hall law school at a time when very few women entered that profession. She eventually movedüto Guelph where she practised law for 35 years with the firm now known as Moon Heath. She participated actively in many community organizations including the Children’s Aid Society, the University Women’s Club and, of course, Guelph Arts Council.

We are grateful for her many contributions, including her longtime membership support. She will be missed.
