Another Fête Romantique Record

2000 Grand-prize Fête Romantique winer Maija Dale

Once again, Fête Romantique, Guelph Arts Council’s major annual fundraiser, has set a ticke— sales record. The 14th Fête brought in $14 210 to assist the Council in its programs and services on behalf of arts and heritage in the Guelph area.

The lucky recipient of this year’s Fête Romantique Grand Prize was Maija Dale, a life-long Guelph resident. She cashed in her grand-prize on a Saturday in February, when, along with five of her friends, she experienced an elegant multi-course dinner, prepared by a talented group of Guelph Arts Council members. The Dinner Committee members, guided by Vaile Henry, included Barbara Brooks, Brenda Doner, Bev Hale, Judy Kingdon and Nancy McPherson, plus the butler/wine steward team of Bev and Fraser Hale. The grand-prize dinner took place in a fabulous Guelph heritage home and came complete with complimentary limousine service.

Thirty-two other fortunate individuals also won Fête Romantique prizes such as tickets to local concerts, theatres and festivals as well as gift certificates to sample the food at some choice Guelph restaurants or the products and services of fine local businesses.

Following the January 27 draw, Fête Romantique Chair Sharon Barker noted the many hours of planning, work, time and energy that go into the event. She also 'cknowledged the generous contributions of prize donors and service providers, as well as the efforts of Board members, staff and friends who have “worked graciously and tirelessly to assist Guelph Arts Council fulfil its mandate in the community.” Finally, she extended a heartfelt thank-you to the many ticket purchasers who helped make this the most successful Fête fundraiser ever.
